STEM Entrepreneur of the Year

STEM Entrepreneur of the year is a new competition sponsored by process equipment specialists - ESI-Indutrade. The initiative has been co-organised and promoted through both the STEM Innovation & Enterprise Society and the WiSTEM Society.

The total prize fund is €5,000 and is divided as follows:

€1,000 per school within the Faculty of Engineering & Science (listed below) with €500 for best idea from a male and €500 for best idea from a female.

An additional €1,000 for best overall idea (any school).

• School of Building and Civil Engineering
• School of Mechanical, Electrical and Process Engineering
• School of Science and Informatics
• National Maritime College of Ireland

The competition will be graded using the design thinking process. All students who wish to participate in the competition must take part in one of the design thinking workshops before submitting and presenting an idea. While not all students will have a business idea by the end of the design thinking workshop, participation in such a workshop will be very beneficial to any student in their future studies and careers.
